Pop Art Self Portraits

Pop Art Self Portraits

This project was awesome!  The kids really enjoyed it too, even though it took a while.  We started out by talking about Pop Art and Roy Lichtenstein.  We talked about what images you might see in Pop Art today.  We then headed to the tech lab to take our pictures. I told the kids they could do any kind of pose they wanted.  We then traced the pictures, focusing on the main contour lines of the face.  After this we used a circle template to create the circles.  When the kids got to the background they had to come up with a phrase that they say frequently, connecting the art to themselves and also speaking to their audience.  The students were then able to personalize their backgrounds with colors and shapes of their choice.
